Fefifo and PayNet Supports B40 farmers with Cash Sponsorships Going ‘Cashless’ Onboard Fefifo’s Farmer Digitalisation Program

Fefifo and Payments Network Malaysia (PayNet), the national payments network and central financial infrastructure provider, are in partnership to digitalise small farmers and advance digital payments inclusion. Cash sponsorships are now available to be granted to the first batch of 100 eligible B40 farmers onboarded to Fefifo’s Farmer Digitalisation Program with emphasis on increasing local chilli production.

  • The Farmer Digitalisation Program is a digitised contract farming program that offers a comprehensive solution to the challenges faced by small-scale farmers. By leveraging cutting-edge technology, the program provides farmers with access to modern farming techniques, data-driven insights, and efficient management tools through its mobile app, Magic Bean. This empowers farmers to optimise their operations, improve crop yields, and increase their income. In addition to the technological support, the program offers a 100% buy-back guarantee for produce, ensuring a stable market for the farmers’ harvests. To support the initial phase of farming, farmers who sign up for the program are granted sponsorships. These sponsorships are specifically designed to subsidise the cost of seeds and nutrients for the first planting cycle, alleviating financial burdens and empowering farmers to focus on cultivating high-quality produce.

  • Cash sponsorships are allocated to help farmers, as a kickstarter for financial support in order to subsidise the initial cost of seeds and nutrients required at the start of a new crop growing cycle. Each farmer will receive an amount of cash sponsorship based on the number of planting points committed to Fefifo’s program.

No. of planting points (pp) committed:

1,000 to 3,000 pp: Up to RM 1,000

3,000 to 6,000 pp: Up to RM 2,000

Above 6,000 pp: Up to RM 3,000

Note: To ensure that the cash sponsorship is only used for farming activities, no physical cash will be transferred to the granted sponsorship recipient. Sponsorship recipients will have to submit the pre-determined purchase of seeds and nutrients for Fefifo to perform the fulfilment of the order.

  • To be eligible for the cash sponsorship under the Fefifo Farmer Digitalisation Program, participants must meet the following criteria:

Income Category: The applicant must belong to the B40 income category, as defined by the Government of Malaysia’s policy.

Primary Source of Income: Farming must be the applicant’s main source of income.

Restriction of Multiple Sponsorship: The applicant is only eligible for cash sponsorship once, and cannot receive it again if previously awarded under this program.

  • 1) Application submission: Applicants must complete and submit the application form for initial consideration.

    2) Application verification: The application will undergo a verification process to ensure that the applicant meets the aforementioned eligibility criteria.
